Key Government Strategies
The New Zealand Carers Strategy Action Plan (2019 – 2023)
Mahi Aroha – Carers’ Strategy Action Plan 2019–2023 (Mahi Aroha) is the third five-year action plan. It has been developed in partnership with the New Zealand Carers Alliance and a cross-government agency working group.
The Disability Action Plan (2019 – 2023)
The Disability Action Plan presents priority work programmes and actions developed through a co-design process by government agencies, disabled people and their representative organisations.
Transforming Respite Strategy (2017 – 2022)
The Ministry of Health supports family/whānau who care for a disabled person by funding ‘respite’, or a ‘short break’, for carers. Respite is an investment in protecting the health and wellbeing of the family/whānau and helps them to continue in their caring role.
